La Lola - Sheridan Sakura Carlotta - Ma’mselle Mimi
La Lola
La Lola has been reading romances since she was 9 and discovered “Gone With the Wind.” Despite her failed attempt to create a ball gown out of curtains, she has never looked back. She spends her time being absolutely fabulous, reading romance and horror (the 2 not being mutually exclusive), drinking champagne bellinis and working to support her book and fashion habit.
La Lola is a voracious fan of the Big Misunderstanding (artfully perpetuated by Judith McNaught at the top of her game) provided the Alpha/Asshole heroes make up for their idiot behaviour by suitably large amounts of grovel (which contrary to common belief, is not what is used to pave the driveway). She also likes Rake-governess plots and hot (sometimes skanky) sex. La Lola has no objections to doormat heroines, so long as they develop a spine by the end of the book, thus requiring above-mentioned Alpha heroes to prostrate themselves like dogs.
Dislikes: Long separations between the hero and heroine, adultery in romances (again, unless the hero grovels like hell and promises chemical (or maybe physical) castration if it happens again, and romance novels where either the hero or heroine have kids already.
Sheridan Sakura Carlotta
Sheridan Sakura Carlotta had always thought herself alone (so alone!) in her intense and sometimes shameful love for romance novels, having borne the brunt of years of disapproving glances from the local librarian while she hastily attempted to borrow/rent books (sometimes) bearing half-naked muscular men with long hair tenderly touching the hair/face/chest/arm of bosom baring/heaving women, bearing such titles such as “The Wicked Man Pleasurable Touch!” or “One Night of Desire!” Then, one very ordinary day, she met La Lola and found out that she wasn’t so alone. La Lola is now Sheridan Sakura Carlotta’s romance pimp and Sheridan Sakura Carlotta loves her intensely for it.
Sheridan Sakura Carlotta will only read books featuring the Alpha Male* and will spit (spit she says!) at any book that has a wimpy virgin male as its romantic lead. She has in fact, spat at such said book(s) only to hastily wipe it away lest she is then unable then to return the book(s) to get her money back.
If only it were true: Sheridan Sakura Carlotta would be somewhere in some gorgeous penthouse in Chicago, curled up next to the warm bodied chest of Matthew Farrell (of Ms Judith McNaught’s stellar classic, “Paradise”).

Ma’mselle Mimi
Ma’mselle Mimi is the resident IT goddess and web-mistress of desire here at ripmybodice headquarters. An ardent fan of bees, bugs and serial killers (not necessarily in that order), Ma’mselle Mimi was a late comer to the romance world but what she lacks in experience, she has more than made up for with sheer (psychotic) determination.
Did we mention that she likes reading about serial killers in between romance novels? Yes. A typical day for Ma’mselle Mimi involves paying homage to the shrine of vampire warrior Vishous (a goateed, tattooed lover of S&M action and IT god of JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood universe), complete with black candles, whips, chains and black leather.
