Pimps before Hos

A love letter to Rehvenge, by Lola & Sheridan:

Dearest Rehvenge,

So. The good news first. The good news is, that you are a helluva better leading man that Phury aka “I like to hold my fluffy duck blankie and talk about my feelings.” Because we really dig the mohawk, the cane, the fur jacket (we’re going to pretend that you’re friends with PETA as we are okay?) and evil amethyst eyes thing that you have going on. And as a badass pimp daddy with ties to the underworld? Smokin’ baby.

You’re my sonshine after the rain

“The Story of Son” by JR Ward - Dead after Dark Anthology

First up, Sayuri, you are da bomb sister! *thumps chest twice and throws down the peace sign*. Second of all, JR Ward’s “The Story of Son” goes a mighty long way in erasing the pain in my heart as a result of Phury’s book. Which kinda makes you wonder - if JR Ward was more than capable of making one fall in love with a virgin vampire, why she couldn’t do the same for Phury because…Michael Leeds is one sexy ass vampire who needs to be chained to my basement STAT!

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

“The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider’s Guide” by JR Ward
OK so the good news and the bad news.

The good news is that there’s a novella with Zsadist, Bella and their baby girl Nalla, that is too sweet for words. There’s also a whole bunch of dossiers, where the Brothers have to fill up information and it had Lola snorting in laughter (in a good way, I assure you).

We’re off to see the wizard

lu.jpg“Lover Enshrined” by JR Ward
Mimi and Sheridan came traipsing into the RMB offices, juggling their iced mocha frappes and shopping bags from Neiman Marcus. They stopped short at the sight of the LV travelling trunks stacked against the wall of the RMB foyer. “Lola’s back!” they squealed, clattering in on their Louboutin and Sergio Rossi. “Lola! Where are yoooooou! How was the Riviera? Did you get us anything?? Like maybe a delicieux French man with a wondrous eclair full of cream?”

The “Brother of your dreams” Quiz

To mark the end of another great book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, we’ve come up with a quiz to:

(a) let you reaffirm your love for your Brother;
(b) decide which Brother is the one for you;
(c) determine if you are indeed a BDB fan (because you know which Brother you want and should be able to pick the correct answers for each question); or
(d) remind you that there’s another BDB book coming next year, but unless JR Ward can work some big time mojo jojo magic, is likely to pale in comparison with Lover Unbound.

V, my main man

lover unbound“Lover Unbound” by JR Ward
Ma’mselle Mimi flings her door open and emerges clutching The Book to her chest, stroking its shiny blue cover. Making her way to the now-complete JR Ward Shrine, she carefully sits The Book on its stand (complete with spotlights) and replaces the bullet-proof glass cover.

For the past 6 months, since Butch’s book “Lover Revealed”, I have told one and all that “Lover Unbound”, the story of my main man, Vishous, will be better than all the books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, that it will be, to put it bluntly, DA BOMB.

The Adventures of Lola, SheridanSC and Mimi

“Mad race to the finish”

The day started like any other and yet, it was like no other day. SheridanSC was obsessively window shopping on www.net-a-porter.com, Lola was rearranging her collection of Chanel brooches in their custom built display case, and Mimi was crooning “I shot the Sheriff” softly to her new plants, while the pink glittery counter mounted on the reception wall of the ripmybodice.com offices counted down towards September 25th, also known as Day Vishous’s Book Arrives. The girls had their regular lunch meeting by the wet bar, discussing the website, different books they’ve read, and their usual plans of world domination and retreated to their respective offices and pile of books. Afternoon stretched to evening, but the girls didn’t notice - each caught up with their own readings/review writing/deep tissue massages, until, “BANG! CRASH! CRAAAAASH!” Startled, Sheridan looked up from her readings to see Mimi gesturing wildly at her from her glass office across the corridor, for Sheridan to pick up the phone.

When you know, you know

It’s no secret, we are BDB obsessed. We’ve done reviews, blood rituals and lists about them, and even created shrines (although I have to say, some shrines are less scary than others I won’t say who, only that it is possible the scary shrine owner’s name rhymes with “Pimi”). However, we know we’re not the only ones similarly BDB obsessed with hip-hop loving warrior vampires and so, we thought we’d reach out to you, yes you, wherever you are, to say: there is no shame. Embrace the BDB, embrace the vampire love (except we’d again like to stress that V belongs to Mimi, Zsadist and Rehv belong to Lola, and Rhage is mine).

5 good reasons to love a Brother

We here at ripmybodice HQ devour Romance novels pretty much the same way piranhas devour a cow (except we’re very much more gorgeous than your average piranha and also, not fish) and we especially love it when authors come up with a Romance series (it’s like coating the cow with BBQ sauce BEFORE throwing it to the piranhas). Of all the Romance series we have read, the one we cannot get enough of is the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward (aka the Warden on her forum). Yes you have heard us wax lyrical about it time and again on our website but we realize that you may not know exactly WHY we love it so. Thus, we bring to you, our top 5 reasons why we cannot get enough of the BDB universe:
