Round round baby round round

“The Warrior’s Damsel” by Denise Hampton

< PING! >

< MimiSKULLSRUS> : Hola! How was your Saturday?

< SheridanSC > : Hola! It was fabulous. Nothing like having Juan and Sven over for a thoroughly therapeutic marathon uhm..yoga session. Though dude, I swear I had the strongest sense of deja vu ever after spending most of it reading “The Warrior’s Damsel” by Denise Hampton.

< MimiSKULLSRUS>: So that’s where they went! Sheridan you greedy rule breaking whore!! You know taking both Juan and Sven off the RMB floor requires the written consent of both Lola and I! Btw re: deja vu  - you know what this means

< SheridanSC >: ??

< MimiSKULLSRUS> : The matrix is real!

Roses are red my love, violets are blue

“My Surrender” by Connie Brockway

You know, after reading the Rose Hunters trilogy by Connie Brockway, I have now but one simple goal in life. To be given yellow roses and a pledge of absolute allegiance for that seems to be the way to win an Alpha Male into my panties. For you see, with a simple rose, I will be able to ask nay, COMMAND that my dark and delicious hero stop playing around, take off his pants, and just take me to task. Preferably with something hard.

She wouldn’t yell “sh*t” if she had a mouthful

“Libby’s London Merchant” by Carla Kelly

OK I’ve always heard that Carla Kelly is a great writer, along the lines of Georgette Heyer. So when I saw an anthology at the bookshop, I figured what the hell, I’ll give it a try.

Lola: Hello Thin Pale Scary Lady.

Thin Pale Scary Lady: *picking up book and gazing at it critically* Lola, this book has no sex, you realize?

Lola: *highly affronted* Are you implying good woman, that I am only attracted to the carnal interactions between individuals, with nary a thought for the emotional and spiritual development of their transcendental love?

Thin Pale Scary Lady: Yes.

Lola: Fair enough.

(Not) Unforgettable, that’s what you are/ (not) unforgettable, though near or far

“Never Seduce a Scoundrel” by Sabrina Jeffries

WANTED: The memory of having read “Never Seduce a Scoundrel”. Book found in closet while attempting to spring clean as had to make way for all the new purchases recently acquired during several blowout sales (plus side of failing global economy). Spent some time staring at the book as cover looked familar, as did the names mentioned in the blurb. Vaguely remembered reading it and seeing snow. Thus conclude that book was read sometime late last year. Either that or it was during the time Lola thought it would be a good idea to frost all of our windows in hopes to give Santa more time to get her christmas list sorted.

Sin when you’re winning

“To Sin With A Stranger” - Kathryn Caskie

Now for those who have grown up in a God fearing household, call Satan your homeboy (*points in the direction of Mimi’s office*) and/or watched the movie “Seven” at some point in your life, the seven deadly sins would be familiar to you. But for those who are unaware (and who unlike *points in the direction of Mimi’s office* have not come up with a jaunty little tune to help you remember the correct order of each sin), the seven cardinal sins are: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. Kathryn Caskie spins a rather interesting take on this - by assigning a specific sin to each specific member of the Sinclair household (thereby also ensuring a long and healthy relationship with her publishing house. Well done that.) First up (I guess sin has no particular order), is “greed”; manifested in a handsome, broad shouldered, well hung, cheeky (pun intended) Marquis: Sterling Sinclair. Sinning has never looked better.

I need a hero

“My Seduction” by Connie Brockway

“Once upon a time, in a time long ago, there lived three sisters: Kate (Book 1), Helena (Book 2), and Charlotte (Book 3), whose father had, during the war with France, traded his life for the lives of three boys who were held captive and tortured for their role as spies and would be assassins. This is the story of Katherine Blackburn, the young widow now orphan child who has had her fill of heroes (first her husband decided to troop off to war and didn’t have the good sense not to get himself killed and now her dear papa had died leaving the family with nothing) and Christian Kit McNeil, a green eyed highland warrior whom I would like to play “Hide The Lochness monster In Its Cave” with” murmured Sheridan while stroking Sven’s hair.

“I don’t think your story is going to make Sven feel any better Sheri” mused Mimi from the corner.

“Look I’m doing the best I can. And might I add, that if you hadn’t decided to have Sven test out your new super secret recipe for meatballs I woul…I mean, WE wouldn’t be a masseur short right about now! God Mi, my shoulders are all stiff from all that hard work I did this morning!”

“You mean getting out of bed?”

“YES!”

It’s all about the bling bling

“Enticing the Prince” by Patricia Grasso

“Enticing the Prince” by Patricia Grasso is all about the bling, and less about the Romance. At least, that’s what I got out of it. My mind was so filled; nay, consumed by the images of all the fantastical jewelry Katerina creates in the book, that there wasn’t much space to remember (and therefore obsess) about Prince Drako Kazanov. Which is a crying shame I guess cos he’s a stinkin’ rich Prince whose nickname is the Dragon. Then again, said Prince had also commissioned from Katerina a giant gold and diamond dragon pendant (complete with ruby flame) which, kept looking ridiculous in my mind’s eye on a dark haired blue eyed aristocrat. Like seriously. Where would you wear that to your Highness? Are you using it as a mirror to reflect your handsome visage? To look up the skirts of women? Is it to attract the honeys? Are you intending to break out in lyrical rap at some point? Are you going to start a dance crew by the name of “Dragon and the D-Boys?”Do you think it brings out the colour of your eyes? Please advise.
