“To Seduce a Sinner” by Elizabeth Hoyt
Elizabeth Hoyt really needs to get a lot more press than she’s getting. I mean, with some of the books out there that range from “Hello dear author, did you forget to take your meds today?” to “Oh how I wish I’d never learned to read”, books like “To Seduce a Sinner” are truly gems in the barren wilderness.

“Secret Desires of a Gentleman” by Laura Lee Guhrke
Having waited ages for the third instalment in Laura Lee Guhrke’s “Girl-Bachelor” series, I was all excited to be getting my hands on it. “I am all excited to be getting my hands on it,” I remarked to Sheridan the other day.

“He Said Yes” by Patricia Waddell
“Hey Mimi, whatcha doing?” asked Sheridan, ambling along the edge of the pool where Mimi is lying in her hot pink rhinestone bikini upon a Budweiser float. “I’m trying to remember the dream I had last night. I am pretty sure it involved me entering a room with hanging body parts but I honestly can’t be sure” said Mimi, her face contorting into a frown. “Wow. So did not expect that answer” replied Sheri, backing away from the edge. “Anyway, Lola’s out getting us lunch and I just finished this new historical series and thought I’d share it with you because I know how much you like historical romances” continued Sheridan, eyeing Mimi warily as she twirls her locks around her index finger, still lost in thought.

“The Phantom’s Opera” by Sadie Montgomery
Lola rustled her bodice, adjusting it so that it modestly clung to her navel. “OK Juan, you stand here.” She fixed the white half mask to Juan’s face and tenderly arranged the black cape to flow delicately over his body, clad in black boxers with little Phantom masks printed on them.

“Seduce Me at Sunrise” by Lisa Kleypas
It’s Dress-Up Night at the RMB offices, and in honour of “Seduce Me at Sunrise,” the theme for the night is “Gypsy Nights.” Lola, swathed in diaphanous silk and with thousands of bells tinkling away, swiped at the gauzy curtains, Sheridan following hot on her heels.
“Come in my dears,” crooned Mimi. “Tell Madame Mimi your worries, and ask away!”

“Out of the Darkness: The Phantom’s Journey” by Sadie Montgomery
Amici! Since-a the last time, you all liked the French Lola so much (I not sure why, since everybody knows, the French, they eat frogs, and Italy with its canolli and hot blooded men, it is the place to be), I present to you— Italian Lola. That’s-a right. No-a need to thank-a me. I see Sheridan and Mimi crying in-a the corner! You see, they so happy, the tears of happiness come streaming down-a their face like lava at Mt Vesuvius.

“Phoenix of the Opera” by Sadie Montgomery
Like two-thirds of the women out there in the free world, I am in love with Gerard Butler. (The other one-third have either (a) clearly never seen him in “Phantom of the Opera” or (b) are oppressed by a totalitarian regime and not permitted to watch “Phantom.”) Did I think he was cheated in Phantom when Christine that spineless doormat with a marshmallow spine chose Raoul over him? Most assuredly.

“The Warlord” by Elizabeth Elliott
Recently, at a karaoke bar down town…
“Ohhhh MAAAAANDDDDDDDDDIIIEEE! MAAAHHHH – NNNN – DY!!!” finished Lola, her head thrown back in abandon. “Thanks you all! Yesshh! Woohoo! Barry Manilow I wuff you! I wuff youyourock!! And so do we! Woohoo!! Rip My Bodice!! WHOO!!” shouted Lola while trooping off the stage to a healthy chorus of “bravo!” from the RMB table. Raising their tequila shots in the air, the girls knocked back another one with gusto. The girls were out, celebrating their BBAW win sans Juan and Sven (who were left back in the RMB offices, busily preparing for an extended manwich party) at one of their favourite hangout spots. The girls amusedly watched as a fellow patron drunkenly ambled upon the stage and announced that he wanted to dedicate the next song to his beloved mother. “It’s scho embarrassing when people cansh hold their liquor” remarked Sheridan, tossing back another shot and licking the hand of a passerby thereafter. As the strains of “All By Myself” filtered through the sound system, Sheridan suddenly shot up in her seat screaming “I wanna sing now!” and rushed onto stage, shoving the portly gentleman off the stage. “Ahem.”

“Love Letters from a Duke” by Elizabeth Boyle
In “Love Letters from a Duke”, you have a very interesting premise. What happens when an aristocratic young lady who is almost engaged to a duke, falls in love with her gorgeous footman instead? Fortunately for the young lady in question, the gorgeous footman happens to be her almost betrothed, the most eligible bachelor in society. Which means that Lola’s secure in the knowledge that our couple isn’t doomed to a life of scrounging for money and that the poor heroine isn’t forced to wear last Season’s clothes, and I can settle back to enjoy the ride. What can I say, I like my assured happy endings.

“The Mistress Diaries” by Julianne MacLean
There’s nothing worse than reading a book that you’d been eagerly anticipating, only for it to fall flatter than a badly-done soufflé or last season’s hairstyle. When I read the description of Julianne MacLean’s latest book, “The Mistress Diaries,” I was all aflutter with excitement. Drama, pathos, potential grovel, fascinating! My little paws rubbed together in glee. Maybe I should have rubbed them harder. Then I could ignite a spark and set fire to myself. That would have been more interesting.
