I’m just a honky tonk woman

dark-desires.jpg“Dark Desires After Dusk” by Kresley Cole
You guys, sorry for the long absence! As you know, Lola has just gotten back from her annual pilgrimage to France where she took in a multitude of cultural sites such as the House of Chanel, the Hallowed Halls of Gucci, and the Chapel of Christian Louboutin. Needless to say, Mimi and I have been excitedly picking the lock of her suitcase and unwrapping the many gifts she got us while she slept. Oh Lola, such a generous soul. She didn’t get a single thing for herself! Soon after we had divided the spoils presents, Mimi, my yellow bellied friend, caught the next flight to Italy and so I have spent many days hiding from The Rage Of Lola (which would pretty much be the level of Severe on the Homeland security national terror alert). But I emerge my friends, to speak to you about the new Kresley Cole! Yes!! Demons are haaaaaaaawt. (Author’s note: the definition of demons does not include demon princes with dubious growth extensions on their dingdongs) Honk if you love demons!!

Like a virgin, touched for the very first time

kc.jpg“Dark Needs at Night’s Edge” by Kresley Cole
So as Sheridan and I rushed into the book shop of Thin Pale Scary Lady, miu miu and Chanel bags flopping at our sides frantically, she shot us The Look and silently handed us copies of “Dark Needs at Night’s Edge.” I think there was a certain amount of relief on her part as the books were handed over, but I’m pretty sure I was imagining it. Anyway, we shot over our shoulders as we raced out the door, “We’ll be back for Kresley Cole’s new book, it’s out next month!” How relieved she must be at the thought that she’ll be seeing us again so soon! I could swear, tears of happiness filled her eyes!

It so totally is a very steamy Christmas - Part III of III

51256xrqqwl_ss500_.jpg“Playing Easy to Get” - “The Warlord Wants Forever” by Kresley Cole
*walks into Lola’s office* “HOT DAMN Kresley Cole’s story was hot. Truly Lola I think we should bundle off some sort of RMB hamper to Supervixen for introducing us to the magic that is Kresley Cole. Hey where are you?”

“(muffled) I’m here”

“Where? I don’t see you! Hey why is there a mountain of blankets in the middle of your office? Don’t you know that it’s a fire hazard?”

“(muffled) I AM the mountain of blankets”
“Oh. Heh. Not still mad are you? Come on I’ve just finished reading the “Playing Hard to Get” anthology series and I’m now ready to discuss it with you! I especially want to discuss Wroth with you. Wroth. The mere mention of his name brings a special tingle up and down my spine. I want to lick him all over like a Christmas lollipop that has been dusted with icing sugar!!”

“(muffled) Sheridan Sakura Carlotta! What did I tell you about sharing too much information?!”

Blue Moon

wickeddeeds.jpg“Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night” by Kresley Cole
I love vampires. Love them. In fact, all the RMB girls do. We have a bumper sticker on the RMB mobile that screams “I brake for vampires” in bling. (As you may be able to tell, we brake for no one.) But werewolves are slowly and seductively creeping their way (or clawing, take your pick) into my black heart, courtesy of Kresley Cole. Warning though, don’t read on if you want to buy this book and don’t want to know about the good stuff. Coz trust me, I’m going to spill.

If I wanted to participate in the Amazing Race, I’d watch it on TV

wicked.jpg“No Rest for the Wicked” by Kresley Cole

In his younger and less senile days, Grandpappy Carlotta was a treasure trove of wise words. He used to say to me, “Sheri baby, if money can’t buy you happiness, you aren’t making enough of it” or “people say why did the chicken cross the road? I say, why was the road in front of the chicken? Think about that.” If only I had tapped into some of Grandpappy Carlotta’s wise word. Then perhaps I would not be in the position I am right now. Disappointed, saddened, and depressed. The feeling you get when on Christmas morning, you open a large tiffany box with glee and heightened anticipation, only to find a half eaten tootsie roll and a pink glittery post-it saying “Merry Christmas Bitch!” *glares in the direction of Mimi’s office* Well, the traumatic emotions experienced by yours truly that fateful Christmas morn were once again evoked through Kresley Cole’s “No Rest for the Wicked”.

Constant craving

"A hunger like no other" by Kresley Cole“A Hunger Like No Other” by Kresley Cole

First of, I’d like to say, that this review would not have been possible without Supervixen and her super hot recommendation of this sizzler of a book, “A Hunger Like No Other” by Kresley Cole. This book is so hot, I’d recommend reading with a pair of oven mitts and a cool glass of something non-alcoholic to prevent flamage of beddings/furniture. So this review is dedicated to her (take a bow Supervixen! You’re welcome to come by our headquarters anytime! (I’ll get Juan to give you the unofficial ripmybodice.com tour! *wink*)). Second, I have to confess that I’m not a huge fan of the paranormal. Vampires I can handle and maybe the occasional werewolf (Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my all time favorite show (Hello evil Spike? Evil Angel? So hot)) but vampires, Valkyries, Lykaes and Witches? This little mind of mine can only suspend so much disbelief before the line snaps. So. This is what I know from the supernatural world that has been created by Kresley Cole. All the different species hate each other. In truth though, this whole “other world” thing doesn’t quite matter since all you take away with in this book is (a) the incredibly hot sexual chemistry/tension between the two characters; (b) Lachlain’s (the hero, and king of the Lykae clan) soul-deep hunger for Emmaline; and (c) the intense need to get your ass to Scotland pronto.
