“No Mercy” by Jaid Black
Hmm. So. I found myself reading the second book to the Trek Mi’ Quan yesterday and…hmm. Surprisingly I did not find it as shocking and “WTH?!?!?!” as I did with “The Empress’ New Clothes” and I do believe that is because I have gotten used to the alien world outside our tame planet earth. Or at least, I’d like to think that. Although I’m not sure what that says about me. Because though I did flinch a little at Giselle’s actual birthing of an egg (for whatever reason her labor seemed a lot more painful than Kyra’s and a helluva lot more descriptive. Thanks Jaid. Thanks.), I find myself actually contemplating the hatchy hatchy world that Jaid Black has created. This to me is a significant breakthrough because where before I was like “OH. MY. GOD.”, it is now more of a “OH. MY. GOD. Hmmm.” Well, sort of. So let us again, you and I, hop on our intergalatic spaceships and travel to a world where things don’t quite make sense and you experience unbelievable sights, indescribable feelings, soaring, tumbling freewheeling, through an endless (purple) diamond sky.

“The Empress’ New Clothes” by Jaid Black
Huh. All I can say is that Jenny…Jenny if you’re reading this, know that right now, I’m rolling my chair slightly away from you. *rolls chair back* I’m kidding. Group hug? So I read the book and well. Truthfully, I don’t quite know what to say and swear I had a series of rather funky dreams last night featuring hovercrafts and a dog named Thor and a thrilling search for a nest of eggs. For those who have not yet ventured into the sub-genre world of intergalatic warrior alien romance, guys, pull up a chair and let me share with you a whole new world, a dazzling place you, and I, never knew. Also, can I just say, I had totally forgotten what the title of the book was called until I reached the end and then went “clothes? what clothes??”

“One Dark Night” by Jaid Black
>>> Lola 28/12/2007 2:26:37 PM >>>
Hey Sheridan, how was your Christmas? In case you’re wondering, I’m emailing you because I stumbled onto Mimi and Juan wrapped up in a VERY compromising position. Mimi claims that they were trying out the new electronic massager she received for Christmas but I remain unconvinced. Hence I am avoiding going out into the corridors, as I have been unable to get visions of Juan’s sugarplums out of my head. But thank you for the little stocking stuffer you gave me, i.e “One Dark Night†by Jaid Black. Although I have to tell you, there was something a bit wrong about reading it on the day of our Lord’s birth!

“Playing Easy to Get” - “Hunter’s Oath” by Jaid Black
As Juan threw another meaty log to the fire, Sheridan continued her quest to finish the anthology known as “Playing Easy to Get†(as so mysteriously thrust upon her by Lola who, incidentally, was still on the roof in her bikini). Snuggling deeper into her velvet couch as Sven tucked her in under a woolen blanket, Sheridan turned to Jaid Black’s “Hunter’s Oathâ€, a story about a mysterious tribe of Vikings who have been living underground for as long as humans have roamed above, and who have been kidnapping us human women to be auctioned off as their brides for just as long. *perks up* A story about being kidnapped and then sold to lusty Alpha Viking male warriors?! Fantastic.
