Murder on the dance floor
“Born of Night” by Sherrilyn Kenyon
“Hey Mi, got a minu - Mimi where are you going I’m talking to you!”
Caught in the process of leaving, Mimi turned and replied evenly, “you have a portable keyboard with you. Nothing good can come out of this so I thought if I just upped and left, you would not notice and you would therefore inflict torture on someone else.”
* Sheridan pouted* “I’ll be quick I promise!”
“Torture is never quick” Mimi retorted, braiding her hair into princess leia buns to cover her ears. “Fine. I’ll sit here for just one song. However, if you so much as attempt to break into your interpretation of Chicago once again, I will hurt you. I will hurt you good. 6 hours of my life that I will NEVER get back Sheridan. NEVER!”
Startled by the sudden growl in Mimi’s voice, Sheridan was momentarily thrown but quickly recovered like the consummate professional that she is, immediately retrieving a pair of giant sparkly sunglasses and a shiny pink feather boa from her props bag. She plugs in her electric keyboard and starts playing the first chords of Elton John’s classic song, “Tiny Dancer”
“Nykyrian Quiakides, a deadly assassin, he’s called the Nemesis
Green eyed, dimpled smile, he can rip out your heart with his hands
He loves a ballerina, once he saw her, dancing on the stands
He wants to be in her, always with her, tiny dancer in his hand
He runs a crew, a wanted crew
Darling, Hauk and whatshisface
They save Princess Kiara
From getting her dancer’s ass tapped
Nykyrian, he takes the job
To protect her from The League
But he’s so cold, his feelings locked away
She still wants to see his turbo thruster
And oh how he wants just to feel
To lie around with no one to kill
With only her, but he can’t say it
So he thinks softly, slowly
Hold me closer tiny dancer
I want to see your bouncy headlights shining my way
I want to lay you down on my bed of maybe linen
In my private planet filled with stars
Hold me closer tiny dancer
I’ve been caged like an animal most of my days
Heal me with your magical hoohah
We’ll have a busy day that day
Nykyrian Quiakdies, half human, half Andarion
He’s a long lost Prince, a baby daddy, he’s hotter than a mariachi band
Princess Kiara, she loves his weener, now she that she has it in hand
And now he’s in her, always with her, he married her by a market stand
By oh, then Nykyrian gets blasted
By her dad, who thinks he’s bad
And he lets her think that he is dead so he can
Protect her, buthewantstosay
Hold me closer tiny dancer
I miss your soft headlights in my face
My turbo buttons miss your dedication
I lie alone under the stars
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Now you find out that I’m alive
You want to kill me but you love me
We make out like bunnies The End.”
“Well? What did you think?” Sheridan asked excitedly, removing her red tinted heart shaped shades and staring at a very calm looking Mimi who was removing the clips in her hair
“I just have one question” Mimi ventured cautiously while shaking the braids out of her hair. “Why are you singing a love song to Tony Danza? Seriously Sheridan, do we have to go through this again? He wasn’t the boss!”
“TINY DANCER Mimi! TINY. DANCER.”
“Oh. That makes more sense.”

I truly enjoyed this series (got them all for Christmas). Reminded me of Sherri’s early Dark Hunter work before she started adding new Supes every chapter. Which makes sense really since these are reprints of books she wrote in 1992.
My only complaint is knowing that there are only 3. I was sad to leave the Ichidian Universe. Book Two was my favourite of the series. Syn is freaking HAWT once he sobers up a bit.

She is writing Caillen’s story but no release date has been given for that. I loved this series, dark, lots of angst, hawt guys…what more could a girl ask for, other than to have her own name in the lead role of heroine???

Love love love this series! I’m not usually a sci-fy’ey type person, but I’ll make an exception for future books of this series.

I recently finished the three books in this series. Kenyon’s created a great sci-fi world with romance and action. I really enjoyed the first two books, Born of Night and Born of Fire. Born of Fire was my favorite. Born of Ice, the third book was just ok.
Reading something that is sci-fi romance as opposed to paranormal romance (which I’ve read A LOT of lately) was a nice change. I’m looking forward to more to come with this series and sad there’s nothing more for me to read from it RIGHT NOW. I’ll be eagerly waiting.
