Our interview with Nalini Singh

RMB: So Nalini, thank you for meeting us here. In the most forested area of San Franciso we could find using google maps. I assure you, that there is a deep purpose for why we have insisted that we conduct an interview with you here - totally of course, unrelated to the fact that we want to know where the Changelings live. *Lola stage whispers to Sheridan “I thought that was the sole purpose.  If not we could’ve just go back to the Honky Tonk Bar! It’s 2 for 1 night. Maybe even 3 for one if Mimi gets on that bronco again! ”  *Ahem* Okay so we lied. But we understand you probably have some sort of promise going on not to expose, more importantly, the Alpha Changelings to human females so we have devised a way to assist you out of this conundrum. But first, tell us -

RMB: Tell us, what are some of the books/ name some of the series you have written?

NS: The Psy/Changeling Series, Guild Hunter Series plus six short contemporary romances for Silhouette Desire

RMB: Good, good. Now if you could direct your attention to Sheridan who is now about 100m south of us, is she getting WARMER or COLDER to where one would propose a secret Changeling society lived?

NS: Colder.

RMB: *Lola shouts “Keep going Sheridan!!”* Now tell us Nalini, which two Romance novels do you wish you had written (that were not your own) and why?

NS: Honestly - I’m happy when I find beautiful take-me-away romances by other authors. Then I may *ahem* have been known to email the auhtor and bug them to write faster. I totally couldn’t do that if I was the author!

RMB: *slides across a pen and piece of paper to Nalini* We’d like the email addresses of these authors too. Okay, so the RipMyBodice girls are occasionally prone to visual hallucinations which include rainbows and clouds (we deny the existence of any alcoholic beverages prior to such sightings). We would be grateful if you could confirm that this is proof of fledging/undiscovered Psy powers

NS: Of course you’re psychic! Now come with me while I introduce you to this nice man - he has a pretty white coat just for you.

RMB: OOh! We could totally use a new coat for our Winter/Spring wardrobe!

NS: Just kidding!

RMB: *Lola & Mimi look crestfallen*

NS: Rainbows and cloud sightings are indicators of a rare ability known as weatheroscopineticism. The FBI will be contacting you shortly about experimentation a highly important position.

RMB: God I hope they bring Agent Aaron Hotchner. *Lola’s cell phone goes off and Sheridan’s voice comes crackling through the speaker - “About 229 meters now, due east of last co-ordinates. Am I WARMER? or COLDER?”*

NS: Colder

RMB: *Lola & Mimi look crestfallen again* Next question - if you were an alcoholic drink, what drink would you be?

NS: You know, I think I’ll pick sake. Looks harmless, tastes smooth as it slides down your throat, but then…

RMB: *nods understandingly* Ok, what super power do you wish you had?

NS: Flying!

RMB: Interesting. We’re guessing this power would totally enable you to travel to forested areas of San Franciso more efficiently eh? So what inspired you to write the Psy/Changeling series

NS: I’ve always been fascinated by psychic abilities, and by big cats and I think one day, all these interests just came together. I can’t point to a particular experience or thing that started me writing this series - I just know I sat down one day, and three weeks of manic writing later, I had the first draft of “Slave to Sensation”.  As to your second question

RMB: *Lola’s phone goes off again - “Oh My God I think I’m lost and you guys, this Herve Leger leopard print bandage dress was a bad idea. Along with these thigh high stripper hee- Damnit! I broke a heel! Wait! Something’s rustling in the bushes. Vaughn? Is that you? Lucas! Clay-Baby? Sheridan is here - EEEEK!!! A GIANT BAT JUST FLEW PAST ME!!!! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! IT’S THE BLAIR WITCH! IT’S THE BLAIR WI-” Lola cuts the line off and offers Nalini an embarassed smile. For pity’s sake - give us a little hint on where one should go in San Franciso in order to discover this world for ourselves?

NS: Oh alright. Start at Chinatown, then head down to Fisherman’s Wharf, before taking a nice, long drive to Yosemite. Who knows who you might meet…

RMB: ANOTHER ROAD TRIP! Whoop! So that we can properly get ourselves in the mood, tell us, which Psy/Changeling hero should have his own theme song/enterance music and what would it be?

NS: I love music but I’m not the best at remembering particular numbers unless they really speak to me - so I’m going to have to throw this one out to the readers. What do you guys think?

RMB: Our readers are the best! They’ll come up with something don’t you worry. Now, what were you doing before you were made to do this interview?

NS: Watching “The Mentalist” to wind down from finishing the galleys for “Archangel’s Kiss” I have a crush on Simon Baker. That smile…sigh.

RMB: *Sighs along with Nalini* No man rocks a grey three piece suit the way Mister Baker does. And tell us, what would you rather be doing (than being attacked by tiny flying insects while answering questions)

NS: *swatting a persistent bug* Watching more episodes of “The Mentalist” (which I don’t have). Basically to have the kind of day where I just want to collapse and not move for several hours (while watching good tv).

RMB: That sounds lovely. OK we promise, only three more questions before we release you and we make the tough decision as to whether we leave Sheridan to find her own way home, or go look for her. Though the latter means we spend more time away from watching Mister Baker..*Ahem* Are your heroes boxers, briefs or bittable bare butt men?

NS: Depends on the hero, my darlings. No cat, wolf, human or Psy is the same.

RMB: That is true. Apologies that was an unfair question. Even in any given day we are undecided as to the attires of Juan & Sven. Now if you had to choose between a psexy Psy lover or a Changeling cutie, which would you choose and why?

NS: Forget about choosing! I am a shameless hussy - some days I’d like to snuggle up to my very own changeling, but other days, well it sounds mighty nice to warm up a cool-eyed Psy (cos you know it’s always the quiet ones…)

RMB: You’re so right about that one (and on so many levels! *Lola glances quickly at Mimi*. Finally, your shameless plug. What are you writing now?

NS: I’m starting work on the next Psy/Changeling book, which will be Indigo’s story…and of her very hot, charming wolf hero. I wrote the first chapter in a burst of speed and I adore it. It’s fun, it’s sexy and I know I’m the author but I challenge you not to fall hard for the hero!

RMB: Yeah we’re not going to take you up on that challenge. We’re already in love with him from your meager description! Thanks Nalini for coming all the way out here for this interview and for answering our questions! *As Mimi gives Nalini a hug and an air kiss, Lola dials Sheridan’s cell. “Hey Mi, it seems Sheri’s cell is off. What shall we do?” asked Lola, frowning a little in worry. “I think we should watch “The Mentalist” with Nalini Singh! I mean, I think Sheridan would want us to” replied Mimi, gravely. “You’re right!” chirped Lola.*

** Post interview notes: Sheridan eventually made her way home, limping, and missing half a dress. Just in time for Halloween! **

So Indigo’s hero is a Wolf. I thought it would be that cat guy that was with Mercy at the office. Looking forward to her book.

I just LOVE Nalini’s books!!! I could so live in a pack with all those hunky, yummy changeling MEN!!!

Anyway…. I think that the changeling who should get a theme song should be…*drum roll* Zach from Stroke of Enticement in the anthology The Magical Christmas Cat and that song should be by country music singer James Otto and the song is “I Just Got Started Lovin’ You!!!”. Though country is only one type of music I like (and depends on the artist), when I heard this song and how sexy and prowling it is to me, I thought of Zack (who’s story was whole book worthy, not just a short). Something inside of me was really drawn to Zack and all his hotness.

Nalini… are any of you books going to be published hardcover,or book club edition? I do have Caressed by Ice in book club hc and would love all your books in my HC collection. Also… I would love to have all your books in the audio format. There is nothing better than listening to a great book while on a long trip or even just working in the garden or doing housework. It make the chores around the house go faster. Will any books be available in audio?****please say yes..please say yes****Thanks for the great interview.I loved it!!

    Hi All,

I know that we’re discussing Psy-Changelings, but I was listening to within temptation’s dark wings and I thought it would be the perfect song for Raphael and Elena from Nalini’s Guild Hunters series…check out the song here:

I have read sooooo many great reviews of your books on the Amazon forums and Goodreads….they have all gone to my wishl list. I don’t normally read PNR but I’m going to make the exception for all your books!!! Just got my 1st one today and can’t wait to read it.
