Rhinestone cowboy

“Tied Up Tied Down” by Lorelei James

In “Tied Up Tied Down”, you have Kade McKay, who is the best kind of cowboy hero. He’s sweet, charming, polite to women, loves kids, is deliciously sexy and aggressive enough to go after the woman he wants and keep her (tied down, if he has to). Somebody please tell me, when is the next flight out to Wyoming?

Kade can raise hell along with the best of them, but he’s tired of the boring monotony of roaming the range. When he bumps into Skylar, she mistakes him for his no-good bad boy brother Kane (whose story Lola is impatiently champing at the bit for. See? I can do horse imagery like the best of them! Now tell me I’m not a natural cowgirl.) Sadly, Kade doesn’t do the sensible thing and admit that he’s the wrong twin. Instead, he convinces Skylar that he’s turned over a new leaf, and romances her right off her feet (and onto her back). When Skylar finds out she has a major falling out with Kade and broken-hearted, he leaves for a year.

When he gets back, Kade finds out that Skylar’s had a little girl. Father: Kade McKay. He’s determined to be a part of Skylar and his daughter’s life, so he muscles into their life and into their home. Who wouldn’t want a strong, silent and sexy cowboy to move right in and take care of your every wish? An idiot, that’s who. And since Skylar’s not an idiot, she’s happy for him to move in and take some of the burden. There’s a scene where Kade, that gruff, macho cowboy is anxious about taking care of his baby, so he practices carrying a bag of potatoes first. Yup. Lola just about melted into a puddle on the ground, watch your step please.

Although at one point, Kade decides that maybe Skylar is ill-equipped to handle his ferociously ravenous bedroom ways. *Lola waves hand frantically in the air* Pick me! Pick me! I am woman enough to handle such a man! And Skylar doesn’t know how to tell him that although she appreciates he’s trying to be a gentleman, she really longs for his rough and tumble ways instead. And when Kade realizes that Skylar wants no holds-barred, he takes her at her word. Wow. Sometimes I would say be careful what you wish for, but in this instance, oh happy day when your wish comes true!

I could tell you what the rest of the book was about, but honestly my attention didn’t get past delicious Kade and his firm yet supple bottom. Pray, allow me to nibble on you like Kit Kat, Kade. At one point,

So I present to you, a short verse from American Pie:

My my, Kade’s a sexy guy
In the chevy, hot and heavy
No woman’ll ever stay dry
And Lola howls into her whiskey and rye, singing,
“Take me Kade or I’ll surely die/
And if you don’t then watch me cry.”

Oh you McKay boys, I wish I knew how to quit you!

Honestly - what woman wouldn’t want Kade and his ever so wonderful bod? No one I know, that’s for sure. Glad you liked the story it was one of my favs in the series.

It was one of my favourites too. Who am I kidding - I love them all! I have a feeling though that we might never see Kane’s story - I seem to remember he appears in the most recent of the series (Kam’s story - you’ll love it), has changed his name to Buck (perhaps you can only be a truly bad boy if your name begins with a C or K), and may even be married, without the benefit of all of James’ fans having cheered him along in his quest to find the girl who’s woman enough to fulfill all his bad cowboy needs.
