Tiger, tiger, burning bright/ In the forests of the night

“Here Kitty, Kitty” by Shelly Laurenston

Dear Lola, Mimi, Juan and Sven,

If you’re reading this, I am probably on the next flight out to South Carolina in the US of A (and if I am unable to convince Mister Airline Ticket Man to let me purchase a ticket with all my worldly savings ($46.82), then I guess I should be back in time for dinner so save me a plate ok?). You see my friends, I am on a mission to find Nikolai Vorislav, the gorgeous shape shifting tiger with a Southern accent, deep pockets, hot body and crazy ass sex drive. Though I am different from the heroine (being that my lady bits do not emit thumping noises - audible to my own ears at least), I am pretty sure I will be able to turn Nik around in his obsession over Angelina to me. I think. No no, I’m sure of it and you know why??

We are in love. That’s right! And if you must know the moment when I fell for Nik, it is precisely when he allowed Angelina to abuse his credit card (20 grand in 3 hours. He’s my kind of man!) and then when interrogated about his “lapse of judgment” by his female cousins, could do naught but bury his head in the cushions of his leather couch and sadly mumble “I think she’s cute” into its expensive leather. Honestly I never thought I’d say this, but I think I wouldn’t mind being a leather couch in my next life. I’ll do anything for Nik! Come on, the man bought an apartment building in Paris and a resort in the Cayman Islands while waiting around for whatsherface to come back from seeing his crazy one eyed grandmother! The same man who wouldn’t think twice of taking off my shoes and rubbing my chilled feet back to warmth while I slept. Seriously y’all, I’m in love, and it’s real and is the kind that will last for ever and ever! Look, I’ve even done up a picture artistically detailing my life together with Nik when I finally get a hold of him:

Did I also mention that Nik is one hawt kitty cat? I’m sure I did. If not I cannot emphasize it enough. Any man who can belly flop his ass into a pool (while in tiger form) and then emerge dripping wet and naked is enough to make me happy to eat cat food until the end of my days. But you know what? There’s no need because the man cooks. He cooks! His mama taught him!! Truly, I have found no other man more perfect for me. I even like his daddy Boris whose so crazy in love with Nik’s momma Natalia that he is known as that crazy old eccentric weirdo who took one look at Natalia when he was 12 and decided right there and then to mate for life (an anomaly to all shapeshifting animals except the wolves) and who hasn’t stopped looking at her as if she’s the hottest woman on the planet while simultaneously terrifying any other male who had a mere thought of getting close to her. Seriously, I’d be more than happy to sign on for life as a member of the Vorislav clan where the brothers fight to impress me by bringing me carcasses of dead animals hunted down for my approval, where the entire family takes bets to see how hard I can hit a sleazebag whose inappropriate hitting on me, and where it’s totally cool to be caught mauling the naked body of the eldest son on the floor. I feel right at home already! Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to have Nik maul me in front of his entire clan to stake his claim. * Sheridan lets out a gusty sigh *

Shelly Laurenson wrote a great book y’all that had me running for the cold shower one minute and chuckling to myself the next. It’s a good thing it was late at night when I read “Here Kitty, Kitty” and I was alone (though rest assured this will change very very soon.). The relationship between the three shape shifting brothers (Nik, Alek and Ban) almost make me wish I had brothers of my own who’ll hysterically roll on the ground at the zoo upon sight of a beloved family member being caged and put on display. In fact, there wasn’t a character in the entire book that didn’t have a funny line and honest to god Nik’s crack about Angie being able to find Sara (her wolf shifting BFF) waiting for her outside her door with Angie’s slippers in her mouth made me spew my water all over Mimi’s fine keyboard. Um. Yeah sorry about that Mimi. Wiped it up real good though!

I will miss you guys. Especially since Angie’s friends Miki and Sara remind me of us!  Kick-ass females who are just a little bat-shit crazy (because the scene where the lions, tigers, wolves and bear (just the one) started fighting in the living room being calmly watched by Angie, Miki and Sara (and a bag of chips) after having come back from a fantabulous shopping trip totally sound just like us). Oh so okay I almost forgot to let you guys in on the plan. The plan is once I’ve made contact with Nik I’m going to get him to let me stay at his house as his “guest”, then I’ll call you guys to come “rescue” me okay? And in the process of said rescue please do not forget to use the tranq dart on Nik (see enclosed) because once he wakes up he’s going to be mighty pissed off and therefore I will end up naked with all four limbs tied in opposing directions to the bed. Awesome! Group hug! I’ll see you guys soon okay? Remember to check the post for the wedding invites!

Kisses!!

Sheridan

Best of luck with Nik - what shapeshifter wouldn’t fall for a woman willing to stand in his possessive pool of pee? Laurenston’s a favourite of mine, really funny and sexy as hell. Have you tried her dragon series?

Good luck with that - any man that you’re willing to stand in his urine has to be something special! And hey, if all else fails - they sell this spray that makes you smell like catnip. :)

So glad you liked it - this is one of my favorites by her. Go Fetch is just as funny - and Conall is just as delicious! Her dragons are great too - she writes the funny/bitchy heroine better than anyone!!

Thanks for the well wishes! Unfortunately Mister Airline Ticket Man refused me entry upon his fine aircraft so I spent most of my money cabbing myself and my entire luggage of naughty lingerie back to RMB HQ.

CPG - I am a woman of many talents. Most of which I unfortunately am not able to share with Nik right now. Santa better bring me a kitty katman this year!

Frannie - No I haven’t read her dragon series. Is it any good? I’ve just started on Shelley Laurenston so I am behind the pack on this one I see. Any particular recommendations?

Belldandelion - There’s a spray that makes you smell like catnip?! I see the benefits of it for crazy stalker paranormal Romance junkies like ourselves but…what do other people use it for?

Judy I’m glad you liked the drawing! *curtsies* Gimmie recommendations for the dragon series! I just got the rest of The Pack series (featuring I presume, Nik’s other brothers. Can’t wait!)

I want a sexy lion too Bernadette!! I feel much better having spent hours thinking about Nik and how we will run the catnip fields together. ;) Maybe you should get your hubby a nice lion outfit for halloween!

Sorry to disappoint you, but there are no books yet featuring Nic’s brothers. Pack Challenge is Sara’s story (wolves), and Go Fetch is Miki’s story (wolf/human). There is a fun story that is relate to the series in the anthology When He Was Bad (characters from here appear in Go Fetch - also wolf/human).

The Mane Event has two related lion stories - the second one is a lion/wolf story.

The Beast in Him is one that either you or Lola read and I believe were not big fans of - but it reads better if you read the second story in Mane Event, where the characters are introduced.

The Mane Attraction is Sissie Mae’s story - she is the sister of Bobby Ray from Beast - again, another wolf/lion story.

Her G.A. Aiken stories are all dragons…

First story is in Everlasting Bad Boys (an anthology)
Then comes Dragon, Actually, which features the son and grandson of the couple in EBB.
Next up is About a Dragon
Then her newest release, What A Dragon Should Know, which you should not read before reading the others. She builds a fun world full of yummy, cranky, full- of- themself dragon males and smart, feisty, and very bitchy females (some human, and one dragon).

She has two other wolf stories - one in the anthology Sun, Sand and Sex; the other in the anthology Belong to the Night - both good, not great (wolf/witch stories).

    Happy reading!! :)

I have just read What a Dragon Should Know and loved it! Yes I now know I should have read the other books first. Have them on order at B and N. Like all her books you laugh out loud and hate for them to end. I went to her web site to get emails when she has a new book.

Judy, thanks for that in-depth breakdown of Shelley Laurenston’s books! You’re like wiki-amazon! :) Awesome. Any particular favourites?

Bernadette - Heh I see you too have profited from Judy’s wisdom. Yes I do love how her books make me chuckle out loud or grin to myself. Those are the best kind!

Aaaagh…I cant wait for the next Shelley Laurenston. She is my favorite right now. The queen of the pile. I personally love the Pride series the best but the Magnus Pack Series rocks as well (as well as the dragons and witches and Viking Crow women…who am I kidding the woman can do no wrong)
