That’s Shakespeare In Love

“What Wild Moonlight” by Victoria Lynne

TWO households, both alike in dignity

In fair Monaco, where we lay our scene

Nicholas Duvall and Katya Alexander are our Romeo and Juliet

A handsome blonde and a stunning brunette

AS ancient grudge break to new mystery

A lost Stone of Destiny and three scrolls make certain hands unclean

Whenceforth in days of yore both their households sought to unite

Two powerful families of medieval lore

By marriage a young gypsy lass and a fierce warrior one night

But alas through treachery and betrayal the night ends in gore

The Stone of Destiny then stole and lost to the ages

With the missing scrolls marking its resting place amongst its yellow pages

AND now dear friends of present days we speak

Of the Lord of Scoundrel and a gypsy magician lass

She whose brightness of her cheek would shame the stars that streak

And whose bosom Nicholas doth crave to caress

Forswear it sight!

Nicholas did ne’er saw true beauty till that night

A carriage ride doth spark this story start

With Katya posing as Nicholas’s mistress in exchange for the coins purloined

But soon Katya finds herself losing her heart

To Nicholas’ talents (i.e. his loins)

Katya then spots a ring on Nicholas’ impressive finger

Which means is a dragon and she, his slayer

But instead of fleeing her own mortal enemy she instead doth linger

And then beside the rose bushes she bid him to be her body’s surveyor

ARMED with letters from her great grandmother past

Katya bids to uncover the truth of that ancient night

What she finds though sets her mind harassed and her emotions outcast

For she finds that attraction bound the couple and not fright

“So why forth the anger and the suspicion of betrayal?” she doth muse

But little time to settle her mind did she have to wit,

For her life is by someone being abused

Causing Nicholas to rage, curse and spit

But Katya thinks it is Nicholas who wants her dead

(Clearly the dear lady must have falled on her head)

WHEN the villain is revealed, Katya is brought by he to a secret cave

Bound and held by gunpoint, our lady is forced to render the location of the Stone

Nicholas races to her rescue like a love sick knave

And despatches the villain leaving him dead to the bone

The lovers reunite and reveal their identity true

And return to their home to continue to screw

AND so doth end a story of forth the fatal loins of two foes

Whenceforth pair of star-crossed lovers meet and mate for life

For though whole misadventured piteous overthrows

They do with their love bury their families’ strife
