(Not) Unforgettable, that’s what you are/ (not) unforgettable, though near or far

“Never Seduce a Scoundrel” by Sabrina Jeffries

WANTED: The memory of having read “Never Seduce a Scoundrel”. Book found in closet while attempting to spring clean as had to make way for all the new purchases recently acquired during several blowout sales (plus side of failing global economy). Spent some time staring at the book as cover looked familar, as did the names mentioned in the blurb. Vaguely remembered reading it and seeing snow. Thus conclude that book was read sometime late last year. Either that or it was during the time Lola thought it would be a good idea to frost all of our windows in hopes to give Santa more time to get her christmas list sorted.

FOUND: Reviews of book on Amazon.com. No success with the Fountain of All Wisdom & Knowledge (i.e. Wikipedia). Distant rumblings heard within brain as brain desperately tries to make the relevant connections between the names “Amelia” and “Lucas Winter”. Note from Amazon.com that Amelia acts like a “silly flirtatious twit”. Memory is humming back to life. Oh no wait. That was just a mosquito.

AM SURE: That Lucas Winter is not a changeling, an Other, a vampire, a werewolf, or a nightwalker. Suddenly he does not seem quite as interesting. Then again, suspect that he was as interesting as tree sap at point of reading book. His painful ploy to get close to Amelia in order to learn more information about Amelia’s step mom was as clever a ploy as me tapping Mimi on her right shoulder and hiding on the left. *rubs bruise on upper arm* Ow. B*TCH.

VAGUELY RECALL: The following - (a) Lady Amelia being rather annoying as she clearly thought she was smarter than everybody else; (b) Lucas Winter enduring some sort of betrayal which involved a very small dark space; (c) Lady Amelia getting caught while delivering a letter and pretending that she was swung abit too vigorously about as a child resulting therefore in severe brain damage; (d) Lucas Winter wanting to hunt down the man and woman who betrayed him to a place of no windows; and (e) Lady Amelia and Lucas getting to third base on their first date on a ship wherein Lucas went all Panic At The Disco at the sight of the ships’s galley.  Also remembered thinking that Lady Amelia must clearly not have paid much attention to any of the classes on How Not To Fool Around With A Man On Your First Date, and/or Why Ladies Should Keep Their Knees Together And Not Spread Them At Places Where There Likely Be Rats And You Are In A Small Boat That Is Floating On The Dirty Thames.

MIGHT HAVE ALSO READ: About how Lucas thinks the betrayer is Lady Amelia’s step mother and it turns out that he wasn’t wrong about that. However, it transpires that Lady Amelia’s step-mother (whose name I have clearly forgotten so we shall hereinafter refer to her as “Not-So-Bad Lady”) had a rather shady brother who had no qualms about betraying King and country, and leaving Lucas and the rest of the men to die. This also explains Lucas’s intense dislike for small, dark, and tight places for he had, in order to survive, to stay in such a wretched place for weeks on end. Because every Romance hero needs to get over their pain and darkness through oral fixation, no doubt I therefore would have read a scene featuring both Lucas and Amelia, in a dark small cramped space, Lucas freaking out like a little girl and Amelia helps take..his mind off the darkness, by sinking to her knees. Hunh. Am suddenly reminded of a similarly talented girl named Miranda. Seriously. Is this honestly the best way to cure post-traumatic stress disorder? Because I’m thinking the delicious Dr. Owen Hunt’s (shout-out to fans of Grey’s Anatomy!) might just want to skip the therapy and come straight to Mama Sheridan for a good old fashion fix-me-upper. Meet me in the on-call room Owen! Stat!!

Ladies, thank god, you’re back. I was getting a little worried about you. I know you probably have real lives, and I hope everything is fine with you, but this blog is always a brilliant start to my workday (during my break of course). Thanks for the warning about this author - I’ve tried a couple of others of hers but have had similar a response to yours. But I am for sure going to find Miranda’s book - and then maybe wake up my sweetie, tell him he was having a nightmare and…

I read this but can’t remember it, but I know I have most of Jeffries’ books. I think my brain is too consumed with BDB because I picked up Lover Avenged today….Now if I can just find some time to read it….

Hola Frannie! Yes all is well. We had to evacuate our offices for a while. Let’s just say that hosting a frat party was not the most brilliant of ideas we’ve had.

CPG I’m so jealous! We’re just running out to pick up Lover Avenged right now. Back on topic, I’m not sure what it is about Jeffries’ books. I am pretty sure I’ve read most of them as well but for the life of me, cannot remember a single one of them.

Yep. That’s pretty much my experience with Jeffries’s books too. (Also, Jayne Ann Krentz and Amanda Quick… although I did experience a long-running glomfest of both years back in college. But now I can’t separate one plot from another.) I’ve never actually sought out a Jeffries book, though. More of a nothing-else-left-on-the-library-rack pick.

This review has the perfect title. I actually have this book in my shelf, which means I must have read it, when it first came out. For the life of me, I don’t recall the story at all. :(

You have so perfectly captured the shapeless mess of a memory I’m left with after reading many of these book. Well, you have a lot more details in your memory then I end up with in mine.

Thank you! This website is such fun!

I know that I read this book. I’m sure of it. It’s on my check-out record. I just have absolutely no idea what it was about. Even after the review, I’m still not quite sure. I know I’ve read a few of her “novels”, because I’m all about the second chance (and, on occasion, third, and fourth), I can say with all certainty, that I will never waste my time on Sabrina Jeffries again. Also on the “Ain’t Gonna Happen Again” list: Julie Garwood, as the mention of the name brings up memories of horrible grammar, nauseating plot lines, and simpering, idiotic heroines. Gag.

If you are willing to buy a house, you will have to get the mortgage loans. Furthermore, my brother all the time uses a collateral loan, which supposes to be really rapid.
