Sin when you’re winning

“To Sin With A Stranger” - Kathryn Caskie

Now for those who have grown up in a God fearing household, call Satan your homeboy (*points in the direction of Mimi’s office*) and/or watched the movie “Seven” at some point in your life, the seven deadly sins would be familiar to you. But for those who are unaware (and who unlike *points in the direction of Mimi’s office* have not come up with a jaunty little tune to help you remember the correct order of each sin), the seven cardinal sins are: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. Kathryn Caskie spins a rather interesting take on this - by assigning a specific sin to each specific member of the Sinclair household (thereby also ensuring a long and healthy relationship with her publishing house. Well done that.) First up (I guess sin has no particular order), is “greed”; manifested in a handsome, broad shouldered, well hung, cheeky (pun intended) Marquis: Sterling Sinclair. Sinning has never looked better.

Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?

“Mona Lisa Blossoming” by Sunny
Previously in the Mona Lisa saga….

Mona Lisa had waltzed off into the moonlight with her two lovers, Gryphon and Amber, known respectively as “Boring” and “Not As Boring Simply By Virtue of His Enormous Manhood That Is Capable Of Causing A Solar Eclipse.” Sadly Mona Lisa had repudiated the love of Halcyon, High Prince of Hell and object of Lola’s affection (for the moment. I have a really short attention— hey cookie!) and thus slides several points down in the Heroine Intelligence Index.

I need a hero

“My Seduction” by Connie Brockway

“Once upon a time, in a time long ago, there lived three sisters: Kate (Book 1), Helena (Book 2), and Charlotte (Book 3), whose father had, during the war with France, traded his life for the lives of three boys who were held captive and tortured for their role as spies and would be assassins. This is the story of Katherine Blackburn, the young widow now orphan child who has had her fill of heroes (first her husband decided to troop off to war and didn’t have the good sense not to get himself killed and now her dear papa had died leaving the family with nothing) and Christian Kit McNeil, a green eyed highland warrior whom I would like to play “Hide The Lochness monster In Its Cave” with” murmured Sheridan while stroking Sven’s hair.

“I don’t think your story is going to make Sven feel any better Sheri” mused Mimi from the corner.

“Look I’m doing the best I can. And might I add, that if you hadn’t decided to have Sven test out your new super secret recipe for meatballs I woul…I mean, WE wouldn’t be a masseur short right about now! God Mi, my shoulders are all stiff from all that hard work I did this morning!”

“You mean getting out of bed?”

“YES!”

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?

“Mona Lisa Awakening” by Sunny
“Why hello Lola,” said Thin Pale Scary Lady to me the other day, as I happily handed over my pile of books over the counter. “Only 4 today?”

The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind

“Elijah (The Nightwalkers, Book 3)” by Jacquelyn Frank

Elijah is a deadly wind demon, and Captain of Noah’s elite demon army

And unlike human males I know, Elijah isn’t smarmy

A charmer, a prankster, a lover and a fighter is he

A deadly frat boy really, who unfortunately falls prey to she

She the werecat, the shapeshifting kitty cat, the lycanthrope princess of her kind

And generate much heat they do in their secret cave of love, as their bodies intertwine

‘Til I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen

The River Devil” by Diane Whiteside
It’s been a while since I read a historical set in the American West, so when I saw “The River Devil,” I figured why not give it a try? I’ve been reading about demon kings, moon queens, invisible women and Scottish lovers, so a hunky Wild Western guy should be a nice change.

Cherry Jamboree

“To the Brink” by Cindy Gerard (Bodyguard Series, Book III)

Cindy Gerard adds another layer of complication to my life with “To the Brink”. Because now, not only do I have to find a man that fits all of these specifications (to name a few please see here, here, here, and here), I now need to find a man who has cherry breath. A man who loves sucking. On lifesavers. On cherry lifesavers. Lord help me! Cruel are you to taunt me with a man whose sweet tooth I’d like to nibble on meself. Add to the mix an all-consuming protective man, throw in some hard abs and broad shoulders, some unfulfilled longing, desire, heat and a large schlampadinkle, and you’ve got my vote for one of the hottest men committed to print by Cindy Gerard: Ethan Garrett.

Ho hum

“Veil of Midnight” by Lara Adrian
The hardest review to write is for a book which is pretty average. It’s not bad enough that you can write a raniew detailing the number of ways you pulled out your hair (more than five, less than twelve.) But it’s also not good enough where you can get carried away writing an ode to the way the hero fills out his wranglers. (“How I long to be the two round faded blue patches on the front of your jeans!”)

Baby I can do whatever you like

“Willing” by Lucy Monroe

Hello again everybody, it is I, Sheridan Sakura Carlotta, presenting you with yet another nomination, for your consideration, for the position of Alphadom this 2008. Last we spoke, I had thrown my hat (along with other assorted items of clothing) in support of Gabriel Jones. Now, I bring to you, Daniel Black Eagle, the male lead of Lucy Monroe’s second book in her mercenary series, “Willing”. For your easy convenience, I have once again, compiled our standard RMB checklist which sets out our minimum criterion for a Romance hero’s application into the RipMyBodice.com’s Alpha Hall of Man Candy Hottness.

That’s MISTER Tofu to you

“Gideon (The Nightwalkers, Book 2)” by Jacquelyn Frank

In the second installment of Ms Frank’s new series, we read all about the most powerful of Ancients, a handsome silver haired fox known only as Gideon. Revered for his power and reserve, Gideon serves as a Healer Demon in the Nightwalker world when we first meet him, then, baby daddy to Magdelegna in the end. Though I am not quite jumping out of my seat to reach for that marker to write Gideon’s name on (what available space there is left on) my body, Ms Frank crafts a world so intricate that you can’t help but be sucked into the war between the Demons and the Necromancers while simultaneously being intrigued by Damien, the Vampire Prince. Damien. How you disappointed me with your association with JASMINE. You should have kicked her off your castle and staked her at midday! Tis by a hair’s breath (and the fact that I recently had my walls painted) that I did not hurl your book across my bedroom. Bah!!!
