Eternal sunshine of Lola’s spotless mind

“To Love a Thief” by Julie Anne Long
From the mind of La Lola:

Naughty little devil: Psst. Lola. It’s me. Your bad little demon. Yeah I know, I’m pretty loud most of the time. Mostly coz I wanna drown out that annoying Jiminy Cricket wannabe who tries to keep you on the straight and narrow. Pah! As if you’d listen to HER. She’s the one who told you to wear “sensible” shoes remember?! *shudder* As if there’s any call for sensible shoes just coz it’s snowing outside. 6-inch eff me heels are always king Lola baby, you just remember that. Say, you like my new set of horns? I got them dyed a Louboutin red, to match my new pair of copper platforms! You like?

You’re my sonshine after the rain

“The Story of Son” by JR Ward - Dead after Dark Anthology

First up, Sayuri, you are da bomb sister! *thumps chest twice and throws down the peace sign*. Second of all, JR Ward’s “The Story of Son” goes a mighty long way in erasing the pain in my heart as a result of Phury’s book. Which kinda makes you wonder - if JR Ward was more than capable of making one fall in love with a virgin vampire, why she couldn’t do the same for Phury because…Michael Leeds is one sexy ass vampire who needs to be chained to my basement STAT!

I’d like to thank the Academy for Jason Andrews

“Just the Sexiest Man Alive” by Julie James
Maybe you’ll want to run.

Or parachute in.

Or catch the train out.

Or ditch the baby that’s clinging onto you, because it’ll be a lot faster if you didn’t have to lug around extra weight.

But you’ve got to get yourself to a bookstore, and lay your hands on a copy of “Just the Sexiest Man Alive.”

Deck the halls with boughs of catnip, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la (Part II)

“The Magical Christmas Cat” - Lora Leigh, Erin McCarty, Nalini Singh, and Linda Winstead Jones

Unlike the other stories in “The Magical Christmas Cat“, having a kitty cat of your very own in “Sweet Dreams” by Linda Winstead Jones is not a good thing (unless said kitty cat is a changeling or breed lover then I retract my earlier statement). In the third story of this christmas anthology, the cat in question is an innocuous jade cat statute that comes to life when the moon is full and sucks the soul out of women in order to attain corporeal form and reign on earth. If, like me, you think this sounds like a plot out of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, high 5 b*tches!

Deck the halls with boughs of catnip, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la (Part I)

“The Magical Christmas Cat” - Lora Leigh, Erin McCarty, Nalini Singh, and Linda Winstead Jones

Let’s be clear. The anthology book entitled “The Magical Christmas Cat” does not feature heroines/heroes with pet cats that lead them to their true mates, or kitty kats that scratch the eyes out of baddies while the hero and heroine make their escape. Nay! It is even better! Because in one book, you have not 1, but 2, that’s right! TWO stories about shapeshifting felines. Well strip me naked and spank me down! Christmas is coming after all!

Thanks but no thanks

“Ultimate Weapon” by Shannon McKenna
Lola’s Thanksgiving prayer:

I give thanks for Chanel bags, Louboutin shoes, the softness of my French bulldog’s ears, Krispy Kremes, heated swimming pools, mango margaritas and the dedication Sven and Juan have to keeping their butts in tip top shape.

I also give thanks for the fact that I am not Tamara Steele, and all that that entails. Because if I were Tamara Steele, there would be no Thanksgiving dinner celebrated with friends and family. Instead, the turkey would probably be coated in a toxic chemical agent designed to give you a paralyzing death, and the potatoes wrapped in foil would actually be cleverly camouflaged grenades. And don’t even get me started on the cranberries.
