Love song for a werewolf

“Running Wild” by Sarah McCarty

A ballad of three wolven brothers by Troubaudor Lola and Minstrel Sheridan - Part I (Donovan’s Story)

I

As it fell out on a winter’s day, many moons ago
The’er liv’d brethren three whose fearsome claws did show
That they were borne half wolf, half man, yet all heart
(Aye one was a cousin, but this ballad we must start)

II

The story first of two lovers Donovan and faire Lisa his mate
He spyed her in a bar, scented her and sealed his fate
In the cold he took off his jacket and layd it upon she
Then took her to his truck to “stake his claim” quoth he,
Of brethren three, sweet Donovan is most possessive of spirit
His inner beast snarl’d in protest of being separated from Lisa even a bit
When his dear ladyè got into the truck wi’ Wyatt, his cousin fair
Donovan unable to control his nature growled low and did his teeth bare
When yon he drove back to her home, he met sister Robin whose rose cheek a bruise doth marr’d
Bonny Donovan vowed to avenge her honor and protect “his family now” and so stood guard
And when he spott’d his Lisa crying by the light of the moon later for she and grief cannot agree
He was “aghast” for “nothing that could bring her sadness should ever touch her” thought he
Her problems are his to solve, her concerns now his to take
And then dear love o’ er and o’ er again they did make
At this instant Sheridan rushes through Lola’s bower door, “Sweet Sheridan what’s bothering ye?” sayd Lola she,
“Why choose her? I’m mair fairer far than she!”
“Mine tresses they too flow so lovely and fair,
Am I to be alone evermair?”
Unable to answer Lola turn’d
And handed Sheridan a vodka urn

III

Now return to the story we must, though bonny Sheridan’s heart is fill’d wi’ sorrow
But finish the story we shalt have to do, for Kelon’s story is to be on the morrow
Though Donovan knowst to love his faire Lisa would be quite a fight
Banished from his pack evermores and to be slewn on sight
Betwixt his duty and his heart
Donovan choose true love, a move that was smart
To protect her and to caress her, ’twas no act Donovan wouldst not commit
And to mate her the Wolven decided, twouldst be best if she were bit
To mark beauteous Lisa so that none other would risk his wrath
Donovan doth suckled her swan-like neck, and in mingl’d desire and pain she chaffed
Faire Lisa didst object, she wept, she moan’d, she begg’d
For to be the obsession of one so strong, was more than she had dared
(”O most foul!” cried Sheridan to Lady Lola once more, disbelieving of Lisa’s weakened mind,
“How undeserving the wretched creature, of Donovan the Divine!”)
Poor’st Donovan in a bid to protect his lady love,
Came to a most unfortunate end, his vehicle off a cliff dove
But fear’st not my friends for as all wolven, immortal is he
Clothes torn, but wi’ no lasting effects, just a mite bloody

IV

Whilst layd on the milk-white ground, Donovan heal’d
And brought his lovely maid back to her bower intent on making her yield
Aye he bade her to turn around while unclothed were they upon her bed
And told her what he wouldst have of her, causing her lily’d face red
O Awa’! Awa’! All ye virtuous and shy
For Donovan the Delicious is reaching for the KY
Because a wolven male shalt possess completely his lover’s body
And now we have come to the end of the first story
For this is a tale of three brethren wolf men
And on the morrow, Kelon’s story shall began
